Operations Manager
About Us
Hello Clever is building the next generation of payments and loyalty infrastructure by turning every transaction into growth for merchants. We’re an AI-powered fintech operating across 22+ markets, helping businesses move money in real time and convert payments into measurable outcomes like higher repeat rates, bigger baskets, and smarter customer engagement. Our platform combines local account-to-account rails, embedded cashback & loyalty products, and powerful data intelligence (Clever AI) so merchants can launch offers, optimise ROI, and scale faster - all through a single integration. We’re also proud to be recognised on the global stage including being named Australia’s fastest-growing fintech, Top 100 Forbes Asia, ranked in the AFR Fastest-Growing Companies, and selected for Inc. Magazine’s Best in Business alongside some of the most iconic companies in the world.
About the Role
The Operations Manager will initially lead the operational establishment of Hello Clever’s newly launched US office and support the US go-to-market team by building strong local administrative, operational and cross-functional foundations. During the first phase, the role will focus on entity and office operations, local vendors, operational governance, GTM enablement, partner coordination and the development of US market procedures. As Hello Clever’s US business scales, the role will oversee how Hello Clever’s global operating model is implemented in the United States, connecting the US commercial team with global Onboarding, Treasury, Support, Compliance, Finance, Product and Engineering teams. The role will not duplicate the responsibilities of Hello Clever’s global Transactional Operations functions. Instead, it will own the local operational layer: market readiness, cross-functional coordination, local process requirements, merchant and partner escalations, and end-to-end visibility across the US merchant lifecycle. US-based functional specialists may continue to report directly to their respective global functional managers while maintaining a dotted-line relationship with the Operations Manager for US priorities, market context, launch readiness and local stakeholder coordination.
Role Evolution & Responsibilities
Phase 1: Establishment and GTM Enablement
- Establish and maintain the administrative and operational foundations of the US entity and office.
- Coordinate local vendors, service providers, procurement, expenses and workplace requirements.
- Support entity administration in partnership with Legal, Compliance, Finance and People and Culture.
- Act as the operational partner to the US leadership and GTM team.
- Translate commercial opportunities into documented operational requirements.
- Collaborate with global functional teams to:
- Coordinate merchant and partner requirements.
- Develop US operating guides, trackers, governance routines and escalation processes.
- Support the implementation of US banking, payment and technology partnerships.
- Maintain visibility over entity establishment actions, merchant launches, partner implementations, risks and dependencies.
Phase 2: US Market Operations
- Own the local implementation of Hello Clever’s global operating model across the United States.
- Maintain end-to-end operational visibility across the US merchant lifecycle.
- Identify and document US-specific operating requirements and approved process variations.
- Act as the local coordination point for significant merchant, partner and operational escalations.
- Monitor consolidated US operational performance, service levels, risks and recurring issues.
- Coordinate the operational launch of new US products, payment methods and partners.
- Represent US operational requirements in global process, Product and Engineering discussions.
- Provide structured market input to the functional managers of US-based operational specialists.
- Drive initiatives that improve scalability, controls and the experience of US merchants and partners.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in operations, business operations, project management, ideally in fintech, payments or technology.
- Experience being the first operations person in a market or office - comfortable with ambiguity and having a “builder” mindset.
- Experience working across time zones and reporting into a leader based offshore.
- Confident dealing with external parties: banks, auditors, accountants, vendors.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable creating structure in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to work in the US without sponsorship
