Work Schedule

Children’s Ministry Director: (10 hours - Walworth Campus) 2.5 to 4 hours on Sunday for Kidzone (depending on the number of services at your campus), with the remaining 6 to 7.5 hours distributed throughout the week for program preparation, volunteer training, and scheduling. A flexible schedule is allowed as long as responsibilities are completed and approved by the supervisor.

Student Ministry Director: (30 hours - 15 hours/ each campus) Primarily focused on leading youth group meetings at the Greece and Walworth campuses (schedule varies depending on campus) and discipling students, with some flexibility for program preparation, volunteer coordination, and student engagement. A flexible schedule is allowed as long as responsibilities are completed and approved by the supervisor at each campus.

Job Description

Children’s Ministry Director (Walworth Campus):

The Children’s Ministry Director plays a key role in creating a vibrant, welcoming environment for children from six weeks through 4th grade. At Crosstown, we believe it’s never too early for children to begin discovering who God created them to be. The Director is responsible for overseeing engaging programs where kids can learn about Jesus in ways that are relevant to their age and stage of life. This role requires a passion for working with children, equipping volunteers, and partnering with families to foster an environment where kids can grow in their faith. As an essential part of our team, the Children’s Ministry Director helps ensure our church remains a place that families love to attend, and where children are spiritually nurtured.

Student Ministry Director (Both Greece and Walworth Campuses):

Plays a vital role in leading our Roots Student Ministry (grades 5th-12th) by creating a space where students can grow in their knowledge and love of Christ. This role focuses on leading youth group meetings, discipling students, and equipping volunteers to help students navigate their faith. With a heart for discipleship, the Student Ministry Leader will help build a strong, relational ministry environment where students are empowered to live out their faith and grow spiritually. The role also involves partnering with parents and volunteers to create an engaging, Christ-centered ministry that helps teens discover who God created them to be.

Areas of Responsibility

Children’s Ministry (Kidzone) (Walworth Campus):

Program Development & Administration

  • Implement a curriculum for Sunday morning Kidzone where kids can learn about Jesus at their level.
  • Finalize and manage an annual budget for the children’s ministry.
  • Maintain regular communication with the campus pastor regarding ministry needs and progress.

Sunday Morning Leadership

  • Ensure all classrooms are prepared and ready to go for Sunday morning.
  • Lead and oversee Sunday morning Kidzone, including check-in, programming, crafts/music, and volunteer coordination.
  • Be available to teach as needed.
  • Restock craft supplies in the Kidzone area and nursery supplies when necessary (i.e. wipes, diapers, etc.).

Volunteer Engagement & Support

  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for both Nursery and Kidzone.
  • Ensure all volunteers are background-checked and following safety procedures outlined in the Children’s and Student Ministry Training Manual.
  • Keep a positive, supportive team culture among volunteers, providing ongoing encouragement and support.

Family Engagement & Support

  • Provide support, encouragement, and resources for parents in their role as spiritual leaders.
  • Communicate upcoming events, programs, and opportunities through newsletters, emails, or other channels.

Safety & Compliance

  • Regularly review and update safety policies to ensure a secure environment for children, volunteers, and families.
  • Maintain records of volunteer background checks, training certifications, and child protection protocols.

Events & Special Programs

  • Assist in coordinating special events for children, such as holiday parties, or family-friendly outreach projects.

Student Ministry (Roots) (Both Greece and Walworth Campuses):

Program Development & Administration

  • Develop and implement curriculum for weekly youth group meetings and student-related events.
  • Help manage and finalize an annual budget for the student ministry.

Volunteer Engagement & Support

  • Recruit, train, and equip a team of volunteers to support the student ministry.
  • Maintain volunteer schedules to ensure proper coverage for youth meetings and events.
  • Ensure all volunteers are background-checked and trained in student safety policies.
  • Keep a positive, supportive team culture among volunteers, providing ongoing encouragement and support.

Student Discipleship & Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with students within both campuses and their communities through contact time - ie. through sporting events, school plays, lunches, art shows, and other everyday moments.
  • Facilitate one-on-one discipleship, small groups, and service projects to encourage spiritual growth.
  • Be available to support students facing life challenges, offering biblical guidance.

Safety & Compliance

  • Regularly review and enforce safety policies to create a secure environment for students and volunteers.
  • Maintain records of volunteer background checks and child protection training.
  • Ensure proper supervision during youth group events and ministry activities.

Events & Special Programs

  • Attend, and assist in coordinating, special events for students, such as all-campus Roots events, camps, retreats, youth mission trips, etc.

  • Adhere to the volunteer training manual.
  • Take an active role in contributing to your local campus.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Passion for helping children & students grow in their spiritual maturity.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, students, parents, and volunteers.
  • Effective leadership and team-building skills, with experience in volunteer management.
  • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children.
  • Experience in using or willing to learn church management software (i.e. Planning Center).
