Come Grow with Us! Pro Action’s Head Start Program is accepting applications for a Site Coordinator/Teacher position for our Early Childhood Classroom in our Bath Cooktown location. This is a 12 month, benefits eligible position.
As part of the classroom team providing services to children and families, the Certified Teacher helps children attain skills they need to be ready for kindergarten and implements pre-K curriculum. The teacher works in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, New York State Office of Children and Family Services Day Care Regulations, New York State Education Department Learning Standards. Must maintain all licensing requirements for this Head Start program for compliance and renewal. Must have a valid driver’s license that meets agency standards and consistent, reliable transportation.
Summary of job duties
Direct support to assigned center-based staff, and indirect supervision of remaining center-based staff.
Work with other program management to help provide comprehensive services. Responsibilities include monitoring education content area.
Maintains accurate written records, including assessments, special education documentation, screening instruments, anecdotal notes, and documents for transition to public school and parent/teacher and home visits; complies with deadlines set by supervisor. Utilize assigned curriculums and supports as prescribed.
Ability to apply early childhood development theories in daily classroom activities and facilitate appropriate outcomes for individual children.
Ideal skills
o Experience working in field specific to the job duties.
o Experience working with database systems and tracking systems and a variety of virtual platforms.
o Strong organizational and competent math skills.
o Communication and language skills to comprehend documents and other correspondence.
o Strong computer skills with basic knowledge of Excel Microsoft office and other office equipment such as copier, scanner, fax etc...
o Ability to interact with customers from a variety of backgrounds and with different levels of management.
o Ability to exercise occasional independent judgement.
o Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form.
o Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
o Experience in advocacy work.
o Knowledge of working with community resources.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field AND 1 year of full time teaching experience in an OCFS regulated program AND 1 year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field of work -OR- associates degree in Early Childhood or related field with a plan of study leading to a bachelor’s degree AND 2 years of full time teaching experience in an OCFS regulated program AND 2 years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field of work.
The ideal candidate must have a driver’s license, meeting agency standards and consistent, reliable transportation that will allow regular travel in and around the service area. Agency Driver Record History standards information can be obtained by calling Human Resources at 607-776-2125.
