Location: Capital Region, NY
Compensation: $20–$40 per hour (commensurate with experience, certifications, and productivity)
Employment: Full-Time, steady hours

A day in this role

At 8:00 AM, you roll into a clean, well-equipped service bay and connect your scan tool to a Chevy Silverado throwing intermittent drivability codes. You trace a tricky electrical fault with precision measuring instruments, verify the repair on a test drive, and walk the service advisor through your findings. After lunch, you knock out scheduled maintenance on a light-duty SUV, handle a fuel system repair on a GM diesel, and finish the day by updating repair orders and tidying your bay—ready for tomorrow’s workload.

What you’ll handle

• Advanced diagnosis of mechanical and electrical concerns on GM/Chevy cars, trucks, and light-duty vehicles
• Efficient, accurate repairs, replacements, and adjustments
• Verification of repairs through inspections and test drives
• Preventive maintenance and factory-recommended services
• Use of OEM-level scan tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring devices
• Clear communication of results and recommendations with service advisors
• Strict adherence to manufacturer procedures, safety protocols, and shop checklists
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workstation

What we’re seeking

• Proven experience on GM/Chevy platforms (dealership or top-tier independent background preferred)
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities
• ASE A-Series preferred; A1–A8, L1, or Master Technician is a major plus
• GM/Chevrolet factory training or certifications strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and manage time well
• Personal, professional-grade tool set
• Reliable transportation and consistent on-time attendance
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record
• Professional demeanor and customer-first mindset

Schedule and pay

• Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays
• Typical schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (varies by shop)
• Approx. 40 hours per week with consistent workflow
• $20–$40 per hour based on experience, certifications, and productivity
