Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for experienced educators specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) instruction to support young learners in the Syracuse, NY area. This role focuses on providing specialized teaching for K-2 students, including those with autism and emergent munication needs, within an elementary school setting. The position is a contract assignment for the next school year with a manageable caseload of approximately 10 students, allowing for focused, individualized instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction tailored to the unique needs of deaf and hard of hearing students in grades K-2.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that support munication, academic achievement, and social development.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including speech therapists and special educators, to enhance student progress.
- Utilize specialized strategies and munication methods appropriate for students who are emergent municators and have autism.
- Monitor and document student progress regularly to adjust instructional approaches accordingly.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, particularly K-2.
- Familiarity with strategies for supporting students with autism and emergent munication.
- Strong munication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to maintain detailed records and develop tailored instructional plans.

This contract position offers a focused caseload and the chance to make a meaningful impact on early learners educational journeys. pensation for this role ranges from $45 to $55 per hour.
