About the role

This is a litigation-savvy Legal Assistant role joining an established Long Island Legal Support Department. It's a high-touch support position working directly with attorneys across a busy litigation practice, handling everything from court filings and document production to calendar management and client communication.

What you'll actually do

• Draft and assist with pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and complex document production including Bates stamping
• Prepare and file court documents across traditional and e-filing platforms, and communicate directly with court staff
• Create Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities
• Prepare Trial Memoranda and calendar all appearances, deadlines, depositions, and mediations
• Manage attorney calendars and handle all scheduling logistics
• Scan and upload documents to the firm's document management system and build templates for new matters
• Handle incoming and outgoing mail and FedEx for assigned attorneys
• Answer phones, take detailed messages, and interact with clients and outside counsel as needed

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of litigation experience in a legal assistant or similar role
• Strong knowledge of legal terminology and ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy
• Exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills
• High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage competing tasks
