Chef Sujan Sarkar is bringing his Michelin-Starred Indian tasting menu concept, Indienne Chicago , to New York This Spring. We are looking for committed Front of House professionals looking to join our opening team as we bring his vision to life.

The BACK SERVER position at Indienne New York is a pooled-tip service role that focuses on general maintenance of the Dining Room, Maintenance of the Tablescape, and general Service of Food and Beverage as a Front of House Support role. Should you choose to rise to the occasion, you will be joining a committed team of professionals devoted not only to the execution of technically flawless service, but also the greater goal of making our corner of 38th Street one of the top fine dining establishments in the City of New York.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Back Servers are responsible for maintaining Server Stations as clean and well-stocked areas, polishing and supplying silverware, bringing food to tables with captain staff, and general support for Diners’ Needs as they arise from Entry to the Dining Room to the point of Exit at the end of the dining experience.

This staff member coordinates with the Captain Staff, Sommeliers, and Expediters to conduct Service as direct reports to FOH management. 

Essential Duties

• Provide knowledgeable, friendly and attentive, efficient, friendly, energetic, and thoughtful service at all times.
• Support service team with ongoing table and floor maintenance, including, but not limited to: water service, clearing and cleaning tables and resetting tables with proper tableware.
• Respond appropriately to any guest requests or issues by communicating effectively with the proper server or management.
• Take the lead in maintenance of all wares required for service
• Stocking and maintenance of server stations
• Maintenance of coffee station
• Receive instruction from multiple sources and prioritize tasks effectively. 
• Support team members in the completion of their duties to ensure satisfaction of all guests before, during, and after service.
• Have ability to recite basic menu knowledge and run food to tables if needed.
• Stocking, organizing and preparing service related items.
• Be knowledgeable of the restaurant and its history.
• Communicate respectfully with coworkers at all levels.
• Adhere to grooming and dress code standards.
• Assistance in maintenance of Bar and Dining Room Spaces
• General Maintenance of tablewares and glassware 
• Other General Maintenance and food service tasks as Assigned

• Minimum 1 year of restaurant experience in a high volume environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and a collaborative attitude.
• Must possess exceptional work ethic, strong attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
• Receptive to constructive criticism and performance feedback.
• Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment.
• Physical Demands 

The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 5 to 10 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
