Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Potsdam, NY

Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks

Weekly Hours: ~36 Hours

Schedule

• Shift: Night Shift – 3x12 Hours (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours: 36 hours/week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Required (West 2, West 3, Observation Units)

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse to work in a mixed-acuity environment including PCU, Stepdown, and Med-Surg Tele units. The role involves managing high-acuity patients with cardiac, neurological, surgical, and medical conditions in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in PCU/Stepdown/Med-Surg Tele units
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms
• Administer IV medications including insulin and cardiac drips
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and reassessments
• Manage respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, trach care)
• Provide wound care and post-operative care
• Perform central line, PICC line, and port management
• Administer blood products and follow transfusion protocols
• Respond to rapid response and emergency situations
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Float to sister units as required

Unit Details

• Unit Type: PCU / Stepdown / Med-Surg Tele (Mixed Acuity)
• Patient Ratio: Adjusted based on acuity
• Systems Used: EPIC, Pyxis, SBAR
• Patient Population: Adult (rare pediatric cases possible)

Required Qualifications

• Active New York RN License (Required at submission)
• Minimum 1 year acute care RN experience
• Recent PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience (within last 3 years)
• Strong telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
• Experience with IV therapies and cardiac/insulin drips
• EPIC EMR experience (Required)
• Willingness to float between units

Certifications

• BLS (AHA) – Required
• ACLS (AHA) – Required
• NIHSS – Required

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS Certification
• Experience with post-surgical and overflow patients
