Role Overview Summary

Are you passionate about education and eager to make a lasting impact?

How about joining VSO as an international volunteer and help strengthening the Uzbekistan education system? As a English Language Adviser you'll be coaching local English language educators, youth, and partner institutions. Your expertise will help empower communities and support inclusive, quality education.

This is a unique opportunity to share your expertise and skills, collaborate with local educators, and contribute to sustainable improvements in English language teaching in schools across Uzbekistan. As a volunteer English language teacher, you will work alongside Uzbekistan teachers, delivering school curriculum lessons, professional development, and coaching workshops. You’ll support teachers and students in enhancing their English language proficiency, adopting student-centered methodologies and implementing international best practices. Your experience will help shape the future of English language teaching in Uzbekistan.

Ideal Applicant Summary

You Are an Ideal Candidate If… You are passionate about education and language teaching, and believe in the power of English to open opportunities. You hold an education degree and have practical experience in English teaching in a school setting. Preferably, you have completed a 120-hour TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or DELTA certification. We also welcome candidates without the mentioned certification but can prove equivalent relevant experience.

You enjoy mentoring and supporting other teachers and have strong communication and facilitation skills. You thrive in cross-cultural environments, you're flexible, patient, and respectful towards diverse settings.

You are driven by the values of volunteerism, inclusion, and community-led development. You belief that volunteering and sharing your skills create meaningful, lasting impact. You're open-minded, adaptable, and curious. You're eager to learn from others while sharing your expertise to strengthen education systems in Uzbekistan.

Additional Information

Allowance and accommodation

All volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency. The allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home.

VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.
