Art Director
Job Responsibilities:
- 5+ years in an editorial department or newsroom role
- Great communication skills and comfort working directly with editors
- Excellent journalistic judgment and integrity
- Excellent grasp of visual and typographical hierarchy
- Knowledge of news, politics, finance
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom–juggling hourly, daily, and weekly deadlines
- Experience assigning and art directing illustration
- An existing network of artists with the ability to identify fresh and emerging talent
- The ability to distill data into easily digestible visualizations and walk readers through complex information in an engaging way
Skills:
- Adobe CC expertise
- Basic HTML + CSS, other applicable web languages related to data
- Visualization
- At ease working in a digital CMS, e.g., Wordpress
- Experience with Figma is a plus
- Experience with Methode or other print-related CMS is a plus
- Interest in and understanding of the financial world is a plus
- Deep newsroom experience
- Experience in publication design department (no junior roles)
- An assertive, production orientated go getter
