Beatbox is a high-energy karaoke lounge, bar, and events venue located in the heart of Manhattan. We combine private karaoke rooms, a lively bar atmosphere, and a fun food and beverage program to create a memorable experience for our guests.

We are looking for a dependable, hardworking Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate works well in a fast-paced environment, stays organized during busy service, and takes pride in preparing consistent, high-quality food.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to Beatbox recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
• Set up and maintain your station before, during, and after service.
• Complete daily food preparation, including portioning, cutting, labeling, and stocking ingredients.
• Execute orders accurately and efficiently during high-volume service.
• Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and portion sizes.
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, temperature-control, and storage procedures.
• Follow NYC Department of Health standards and Beatbox kitchen procedures.
• Properly label, date, rotate, and store food using FIFO procedures.
• Monitor product levels and communicate low inventory or prep needs to management.
• Keep cooking equipment, refrigeration, prep areas, floors, and workstations clean and organized.
• Assist with receiving and properly storing food deliveries when needed.
• Minimize food waste by following proper preparation and portion-control procedures.
• Complete opening, closing, and kitchen cleaning responsibilities.
• Work closely with other cooks, porters, dishwashers, managers, and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
• Communicate immediately with management regarding equipment issues, food quality concerns, shortages, or other kitchen problems.
• Perform additional kitchen duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Previous line cook, prep cook, or restaurant kitchen experience preferred.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong understanding of kitchen cleanliness and basic food safety.
• Ability to follow recipes, portion specifications, and instructions consistently.
• Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to remain calm and efficient during busy service.
• NYC Food Protection Certificate is a plus but not required.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift approximately 40–50 lbs.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays .
