Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is a not-for-profit community development organization and settlement house serving 11,000 residents a year through a comprehensive array of housing preservation, economic development, community organizing and youth and family support services programs and projects. Position Overview

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) seeks a Part-Time School-Based SYEP/WLG Coordinator to support the planning, coordination, and implementation of SYEP and Work, Learn & Grow programming at assigned school sites. This role supports youth ages 14–21 by ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging work-based learning experience while maintaining compliance with funder requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day coordination of the SYEP/WLG School-Based Program at assigned school site(s)
  • Assist with youth enrollment, onboarding, and documentation to ensure funder compliance
  • Support and conduct program orientations, workshops, and site-based activities
  • Maintain accurate and timely program records in DYCD and internal databases
  • Serve as a point of contact for youth participants during program hours engagement them using Youth Development, Motivational Interviewing and other best practices.
  • Assist with supervision and support of part-time program staff and interns
  • Coordinate logistics for service projects, programming activities, and space usage
  • Support communication and collaboration with school administrators and staff
  • Promote a positive, safe, and professional environment for youth participants
  • Provide youth development support and basic conflict resolution as needed
  • Represent CHLDC professionally to school partners, families, and stakeholders
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with youth or in workforce development programs
  • Familiarity with SYEP, WLG, or other DYCD-funded programs strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage documentation and meet compliance deadlines
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
  • Must be able to clear DOE fingerprinting and background authorization

Work Environment

  • School-based setting during program hours
  • Regular use of standard office and program equipment
  • Some standing, walking, and light lifting required

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $25–$28/hour (commensurate with experience)
  • Part-time, non-exempt position
