Duties Description In NYSLRS Application Development:- Supports retirement systems through technical analysis, design, development, and nightly on call support.- Requires strong programming and troubleshooting skills, adaptability to new technologies, and the ability to work under pressure.- Demonstrates effective communication, collaboration, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success.- Follows coding standards- Assists team members in creation of design documents and other related system documentation.

Additional Comments Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge, skills, and abilities: - - Demonstrated experience in Object Oriented Programming OR Object-Oriented Programming coursework.- Demonstrated experience with SQL is preferred.- Demonstrated experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.- Demonstrated experience with programming tools/IDEs (ie: Eclipse, Ultra Editor, etc.) is preferred.- Demonstrated experience with database management tools (ie: Oracle SQL Developer, PL/SQL Developer, TOAD, etc.) is preferred.- Proficient at communicating with technical staff and customers alike.- Strong analytical thinker with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.- Demonstrated experience in handling high pressure situations, including the ability to work under tight deadlines, troubleshoot production issues (both during shift and on-call), and able to shift priorities with minimal guidance.- Demonstrated experience in adapting to new technologies as the environment changes.- Strong self-starter, with ability to pick up quickly on new technologies even when formal training and access to in-house experts are limited
