Food Runner
Oceana is seeking food runners to join our expanding team. As a food runner at Oceana, you are responsible for delivering food to tables and explaining items to guests. This position may also require members to expedite with the kitchen staff. As such, excellent communication skills are required.
You must ensure the proper delivery of food items according to position numbers, allergies and temperatures. You must ensure all special requests are properly followed: such as augmenting, complimentary items for VIPs, birthday/anniversary candles, etc. You must speak clearly and knowledgeably to customers about food dishes and allergies- working with a warm, knowledgeable & noticeably appreciative demeanor. As a Food Runner, you will interact with all restaurant departments regularly and should be able to communicate effectively and respectfully with your co workers & managers. This position requires flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends, and holidays. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS• Must have at least 1 year experience in a fast paced NYC restaurant as a Busser or Food Runner
• Must be able to lift & a carry at least 50 pounds • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be comfortable with repetitive motions (such as walking, bending & standing)
• Must have full schedule availability (nights, weekends, and holidays)
• Must be able to take constructive criticisms and work well in a team dynamic SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES • Be warm, knowledgeable and noticeably appreciative
• Accommodate guests by making each individual feel welcome
• Act professional and accommodating and always maintain composure
• Identify and report problems to management immediately
• Be aware of service flow, dining timing, and adjust for each guest’s individual needs
• Implement and follow steps of service
• Oversee activities of your team in the station
