Senior Product Manager || Hybrid - NYC or Austin
Who We Are:
Buoy is a modern, cloud-based software platform powering the blood and plasma collection industry. Buoy builds software that supports the entire donor journey and manages complex clinical and operational workflows, and delivers a faster, safer, and more welcoming donor experience, all while meeting strict regulatory requirements.
Buoy was founded in 2019 to help close a critical gap in the global blood product supply. Amid a global blood and plasma shortage, the company is focused on making donations faster, more welcoming, and more accessible through a modern, tech-enabled experience.
Where You Are:
Buoy is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future.
This is a hybrid role that will require working in-person at least 2 days per week (Austin, TX or New York, NY) and visiting collection centers roughly once a quarter.
What You'll Do:
- Product Vision and Roadmap - You will drive the end-to-end product vision, strategy, and execution for your domain to evolve our platform and meet ambitious company goals.
- End-to-end ownership - You’ll own a set of key customer and business problems from discovery through delivery. You’ll shape priorities for the team, balancing customer needs, operational efficiency, regulatory requirements, and technical debt.
- Cross-functional delivery - You’ll work alongside an Engineering Manager and a pod of engineers to build products that power thousands of donations daily. You’ll lead engineering, design, and operations through discovery, definition, and delivery - ensuring we ship software that actually gets adopted and drives business outcomes.
- Customer insight - You’ll develop a deep understanding of how centers operate - shadowing workflows, conducting site visits, running customer calls, and analyzing data to identify what’s working and what’s not.
- Regulatory alignment - You’ll partner with our Quality and Regulatory team to ensure features meet FDA, AABB, FACT and PPTA requirements, balancing compliance with velocity and usability.
Who You Are:
- 3-6+ years in product management with a track record of shipping products that solve real business problems, not just features that check boxes.
- Experience in complex, regulated, or operationally intensive environments. Healthcare, fintech, logistics, or similar domains where you can’t just move fast and break things.
- Internal tools or operational systems expertise. You understand workflow automation, exception handling, and what it takes to build for scale.
- Systems thinking. You see how pieces connect and design for flexibility, not just the immediate use case.
- Cross-functional leadership. You’ve led initiatives requiring coordination across engineering, operations, and business stakeholders, balancing technical complexity with business needs.
- Deep customer instincts. You get energy from being in the field: sitting with users, watching how they work, and seeing your ideas come to life.
- Adaptable in high-growth environments. You thrive when priorities shift, scope evolves, and you’re asked to reprioritize on the fly. You see constant change as a feature of the job, not a bug.
- Relentless problem solver. You’re solution-oriented and resourceful. When something’s not working, you find another way. When you make a commitment, you go the extra mile to hit it.
- Curious and forward-looking. You stay current with AI tools and industry trends, and you’re eager to apply them, whether to accelerate your own workflows or bring automation into the product.
- Clear thinker, clear communicator. You translate technical and operational complexity into crisp communication that aligns stakeholders and drives decisions. You sweat the details in requirements, documenting edge cases early to reduce rework downstream.
- Thrives in execution. You don’t just set direction, you stay close to the work. You care about the details, follow through on the small stuff, and take pride in shipping something that actually works as intended.
What Will Make You Successful:
- One team - You work across roles and functions to get to the best outcome. You give direct feedback, support your teammates, and celebrate wins together.
- Own the outcome - You take initiative when something is unclear, blocked, or broken. You follow through on commitments, and when plans change, you communicate quickly and find a path forward. You focus on learning, not blame.
- Customer obsession - You advocate for center staff and donors, but you ship pragmatic solutions that work within real constraints.
- Curiosity and continuous growth - You ask questions, seek diverse perspectives, and stay current with tools like AI to accelerate your work, while still applying judgment and critical thinking.
- High standards, always - You take pride in your craft. You set a high bar for quality, prepare and plan ahead, and raise issues early so the team can adjust.
$135,000 - $185,000 a year
