Attracting over 100,000 visitors annually, L’Alliance New York is the city’s premier center for French language and francophone arts and cultures. As an independent, not-for-profit organization, L’Alliance New York’s mission is to provide our members and students with engaging French language classes and audacious multi-disciplinary programming that celebrates the diversity of francophone cultures and creativity around the world. L’Alliance New York is internationally known for offering the largest selection of fully-immersive French language courses for students aged one to 101, and for its renowned cultural programming including the annual Bastille Day celebration that takes place on New York’s famed Madison Avenue, attracting over 30,000 visitors each year; the Crossing The Line arts and performance festival that engages NYC cultural institutions in bringing dynamic international artists to audiences; Animation First, the biggest animation festival in the U.S; and the Comic Arts Fest, celebrating the intersection of American and francophone comic arts.
Position Summary
The Web Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, operation, and continuous optimization of our website, lallianceny.org . This role manages all website content, design, and technical aspects, ensuring a seamless user experience and a strong, effective online presence. Reporting to the VP of Marketing & Communications, the Web Manager collaborates closely with the Marketing team and the entire organization to align website content and functionality with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Content Management
- Create, edit, and update website content including text, images, and videos to keep information fresh and relevant.
Design & Development
- Ensure the website design is visually appealing, user-friendly, and responsive across desktop and mobile platforms.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to align website visuals and messaging with brand standards.
Technical Maintenance
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly to minimize downtime or user disruption.
- Maintain website security protocols and perform regular updates to keep the site safe and stable.
- Optimize server performance and loading speeds.
Web Traffic Analysis & Optimization
- Monitor website traffic and analyze user behavior using analytics tools.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance user engagement and website performance.
Digital Marketing Support
- Work closely with the Marketing Director to implement SEO best practices and optimize site visibility in search engines.
- Assist with digital campaigns and online promotions as needed.
System Integration
- Manage integration of the website with databases, servers, and other internal systems to streamline data flow and user experience.

Who You Are
This role might be a great fit if:
- You are technically savvy, with fluency in web technologies and programming languages including but not limited to PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- You have deep experience with WordPress—the Bricks builder platform experience is a strong plus.
- You are a problem-solver who can troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently and proactively identify areas for improvement.
- You communicate clearly and effectively, translating technical concepts into understandable updates for colleagues across departments.
- You are analytical and data-driven, comfortable interpreting website traffic and user behavior to guide enhancements.
- You are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and thrive working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment, passionate about culture and language.
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience managing and maintaining websites, especially WordPress sites.
- Strong understanding of web development languages (PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Familiarity with SEO principles and tools.
- Experience with web analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a superior eye for detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
