Summary: At NeuSpark PDS, the Nursing Supervisor provides dynamic leadership and oversight to a team of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered health services. This role is responsible for fostering a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and professional development through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing support of nursing staff. Acting as both a strategic leader and a hands-on clinical resource, the Nursing Supervisor ensures continuity of care, effective crisis response, and continuous quality improvement. This position plays a vital role in advancing health outcomes, strengthening regulatory compliance, and promoting the well-being of the people supported.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct leadership to Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), setting clear expectations, fostering accountability, and ensuring excellence in clinical practice.
  • Coach, mentor, and empower nursing staff by serving as a collaborator, facilitator, and trusted resource, cultivating a culture of growth and professional pride.
  • Oversee and strengthen medication administration systems, including AMAP training, certification, and supervision, while stepping in as a certifier when needed to maintain continuity of care.
  • Design and deliver specialized medical training that reflects a person-centered philosophy, ensuring staff are well-equipped with guidelines, procedures, and practical skills such as AMAP practicums and PONS training.
  • Lead onboarding and orientation for newly hired nurses, instilling organizational values and clinical excellence from day one.
  • Serve as a clinical leader in times of need, covering RN responsibilities during vacancies or leaves, and ensuring seamless continuity in reporting, incident management, and participation in meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards by monitoring documentation, treatment oversight, and medical systems, proactively addressing gaps and promoting best practices.
  • Act as a key liaison with hospitals, coordinating discharge planning, maintaining regular communication, and ensuring smooth transitions of care for people supported.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance team to drive an effective QA system, achieving strong regulatory outcomes and continuous improvement in care delivery.
  • Represent nursing leadership on agency committees, contributing to decision-making, follow-through, and systems-level improvements.
  • Provide responsive leadership in crises, maintaining 24-hour on-call availability and modeling calm, decisive action.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of nursing documentation, MARs, and treatment plans, ensuring compliance, timeliness, and alignment with OPWDD and DOH standards.
  • Leverage data and metrics to drive improvement, collaborating on quality measurement initiatives that enhance health outcomes and quality of life for people supported.
  • Lead workforce development efforts, including annual performance evaluations, recruitment, hiring, and progressive discipline, ensuring a strong, engaged nursing team.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration by leading team meetings where medical, behavioral, and programmatic supports are integrated for holistic care.
  • Champion infection prevention and control, ensuring policies remain current, consistently followed, and aligned with public health guidance.
  • Promote employee wellness and preventive health initiatives, encouraging staff to model healthy practices and prioritize their own physical and behavioral health.
  • Guide adoption and optimization of electronic health records, supporting staff in maintaining accurate, timely, and effective documentation.
  • Perform additional leadership responsibilities as needed, adapting to evolving organizational needs and priorities.
