School Occupational Therapist (OT)

Join our mission to help young children grow, learn, and thrive! We’re seeking a motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our Preschool Special Education team , supporting children ages 3–5 as they develop vital fine motor, sensory processing, and self-help skills for school readiness and independence.

As part of a caring, multidisciplinary team, you’ll use creative, play-based therapy to help each child build confidence and success in the classroom and beyond.

Primary Responsibilities And Essential Functions Of Position

• Conduct evaluations to assess fine motor, sensory-motor, and self-care skills.
• Develop and implement individual and group therapy sessions aligned with IEP goals.
• Incorporate sensory integration and adaptive strategies to promote participation and self-regulation.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to integrate therapy techniques into daily routines.
• Document progress, participate in IEP meetings, and ensure compliance with program standards.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (required)
• Valid NYS license and NBCOT certification (required)
• Experience with preschool or pediatric populations preferred
• Strong knowledge of sensory integration and play-based interventions
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move between classrooms throughout the day
• May need to bend, stoop, lift, or push wheelchairs when assisting children
• Use hands for therapeutic tools and activities
• Occasionally perform physical intervention techniques to support children safely
• Vision requirements include close and distance vision with the ability to maintain focus
