Director of Magnet & Nursing Excellence
A leading Suffolk County hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Magnet & Nursing Excellence to lead all aspects of the Magnet Recognition Program and nursing excellence initiatives. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing Magnet readiness, application preparation, designation achievement, and ongoing compliance with ANCC Magnet standards while driving nursing quality, staff engagement, professional development, and patient care excellence across the organization.
The Director will partner closely with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to foster a culture of professional practice, evidence-based care, continuous improvement, and organizational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of the Magnet Recognition Program, including readiness assessments, gap analysis, application development, designation preparation, and ongoing compliance.
- Serve as the organizational expert on ANCC Magnet standards and integrate Magnet principles into nursing practice and operations.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership and frontline staff to promote a positive and high-performing professional practice environment.
- Develop and implement nursing excellence, staff engagement, and recognition initiatives to support retention and professional growth.
- Support evidence-based practice, shared governance, nursing research, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning and organizational initiatives related to nursing excellence and patient care outcomes.
- Lead multidisciplinary committees, task forces, and change management initiatives focused on operational and clinical improvement.
- Oversee nursing quality data, benchmarking, and reporting systems, including NDNQI metrics, RN engagement surveys, and Magnet documentation.
- Analyze nursing quality and engagement data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and action plans.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and educational materials while promoting organizational communication and alignment around nursing excellence initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
- Master’s degree in Nursing required
- Current RN license required
- Prior leadership experience in Magnet designation, nursing excellence, or nursing quality strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of ANCC Magnet standards and nursing quality initiatives
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and project management skills
Salary and Benefit Information
- Salary: $160,000 - $208,000
- Benefits: Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, and PTO
