Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Assessment, Evaluation, and Accreditation, the Director of Assessment and Evaluation (Director) is responsible for managing all aspects of the assessment and evaluation of the undergraduate medical education program. The Director is responsible for both learner and program assessment data that leads to programmatic decision-making and planning, institutional accreditation, and continuous quality improvement.

Working in close collaboration with Admissions, Curricular Affairs, Student Affairs and other medical education units, the Director helps develop and implement effective assessment strategies and tools to strengthen the medical school’s academic processes.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the collection and management of academic data essential for academic planning, program assessment, and program improvement
  • Ensure data integrity, governance, and accessibility for assessment and evaluation datasets.
  • Analyze and disseminate academic data in real time to key stakeholder groups to include leadership, faculty, medical education committee, and students.
  • Monitor formative and summative assessment methods.
  • Provide guidance and education to faculty on current best practices for learner assessment.
  • Oversee the development of medical science and clinical learning assessment strategies.
  • Design and implement program evaluation frameworks to assess curricular effectiveness and outcomes
  • Direct initiatives to improve both assessment and evaluation strategies.
  • Lead the curriculum team in assessment instrument development including exam blueprints, standard setting, observation protocols, scoring rubrics, portfolios, questionnaires, and surveys.
  • Support data reporting requirements for the Morchand Center
  • Supervise staff in the assessment and evaluation team
  • Guide broader Department of Medical Education (i.e., inclusive of Curricular Affairs, Student Affairs, Admissions, and Continuing Medical Education) assessment and evaluation projects
  • Engage in educational research and scholarship with faculty
  • Lead assessment and evaluation work for key LCME initiatives including curricular and phase reviews and outcomes data to support LCME Elements.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree or equivalent job experience required in related field required, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in assessment and evaluation.

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of medical learner assessment and program evaluation
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis and research design
  • Management and organizational skills, including staff supervision, managing multiple projects simultaneously for different stakeholders, and time management to prioritize and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and team-building skills.
  • Strong skills in office productivity tools including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Ability to use statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, Atlas).
  • Strong team player

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $86772 - $150000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
