Job Description:

The Fashion Department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. Successful candidates may teach one or more of the following courses:

Menswear Construction (Levels 1 & 2)
  • Instruction in foundational construction skills for menswear garments, ranging from dress shirts to fully lined jackets and coats. These courses focus on sewing and construction, not tailoring. The instructor will teach proper use of basic construction machinery and techniques for garment assembly, seams, finishes, and professional standards. Students will learn to produce well-constructed garments using industry best practices.
Menswear Patternmaking (Levels 1-4)
  • Instruction in patternmaking techniques including development of basic slopers, pattern identification, proper tool usage, and hands-on design room methods. Students will learn basic through advanced techniques as they create garment prototypes. Knowledge of construction processes and machinery is essential for linking design and production elements. Instruction emphasizes precision, technical accuracy, and professional finishing standards.
Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades on time. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog .

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree required.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of professional experience as a senior fashion designer and/or technician.
  • Knowledge of basic construction machinery and construction techniques.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts degree preferred.
  • Prior college level teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of menswear patternmaking and/or construction techniques.
  • Ability to teach hands-on design room techniques with clarity and precision.
  • Familiarity with classroom technology and college course management systems.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

This is a part-time position, adjunct teaching position beginning in Spring 2026. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. Compensation

The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) governs the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment.

$89.98 per hour based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step and appointment rank are determined by a candidate's ability to demonstrate that they meet the respective school's additional criteria for hiring "above the first step," in accordance with the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules (pp 88-89) .

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The working conditions for this position will be primarily in an office space. The physical requirement for this position will require constant sitting, occasional standing, occasional bending, occasional walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.
