Commonpoint is a community-centered nonprofit dedicated to sustaining and enhancing the quality of life for
individuals and families of all ages and abilities across New York City. With deep roots in Queens, Commonpoint now has a footprint in every borough, reflecting its commitment to meeting communities where they are. Each year, they serve more than 125,000 community members across more than 95 locations. Their programs reach diverse and neurodiverse populations with comprehensive, inclusive services that move individuals from crisis to stability and toward empowered living. Through education, workforce development, health and mental health care, food access, and community-based supports, Commonpoint partners with residents to foster economic mobility, social connection, and long-term resilience. As we continue expanding our reach, including into the Bronx and the Crotona Park area, we remain committed to closing access gaps and creating equitable pathways to opportunity, ensuring every person is valued, supported, and equipped to thrive.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Mental Health Services: The Mental Health Services division is anchored in Article 31 Mental Health Clinic work, which provides accessible, high-quality behavioral health care to individuals and families. Our clinic settings are a central resource for critical mental health services, helping community members improve their emotional well-being, build resilience, and achieve stability in their daily lives.
  • Workforce Development: Centered in an employment hub in Elmhurst, Queens, and providing services in other Queens locations and the Bronx, Commonpoint’s workforce division serves as a cornerstone of critical services that help New Yorkers attain and sustain self-sufficiency for themselves and their families. The hub provides comprehensive workforce supports ranging from job training and career placement to benefits screenings, food access, and other essential resources that help individuals overcome barriers.
  • Older Adult Services: Operating across multiple community sites in Queens, Commonpoint’s Older Adult Services division supports older adults in maintaining independence, health, and social connection. The division provides a range of programs, including fitness and wellness activities, lifelong learning opportunities, and social engagement, while also connecting participants to essential resources such as nutrition assistance, health services, and community supports to enhance quality of life.
  • Refugee Resettlement & Integration: This program is the New York City area affiliate of HIAS. It provides a broad range of services to refugees and other humanitarian migrants. This program provides initial resettlement, case management, social adjustment, ESOL classes and tutoring, employment counseling, job placement, career and other vocational training services to refugees, asylees, humanitarian parolees, and Special Immigrant Visa holders (SIVs) in New York City, Westchester County, and Long Island.
