Accounting Manager

Our client is looking to fill the role of Accounting Manager. This is a Newly created role, this will be the No 2 to the CFO and be the 2nd person in the accounting function as they bring all accounting & finance in-house. The business is growing and currently has 5 BU's under a holding company structure with offices both in the US and Europe. Backed by PE and VC companies, this company is defining a new era in journalism and media. The role owns the monthly and annual close processes, oversee core accounting functions, and ensure accurate, compliant reporting under US GAAP for both the US and UK entities while partnering with our third party tax advisors.(any UK experience especially with Tax topics(HMRC, VAT) a real plus. This person will work closely with operations, go-to-market teams, and other areas of the business to provide financial insight, drive automation and efficiency.

• New York - 4 days a week in office
• $120,000 - $140,000 + bonus + bens + equity

Responsibilities:

• Own and execute the monthly and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
• Manage revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP, including project-based and multi-period engagements
• Drive finance system implementations and automation of process workflow
• Assist with cash flow management and forecasting
• Support annual audits, tax fi lings, and coordination with external auditors and advisors
• Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analyses

Required Qualifications:

• CPA and public accounting experience desired
• Strong systems especially Quickbooks preferred
• Comfortable working in a rapidly growing start-up culture implementing policies and procedures required
