This is a 2nd Shift Position. Hours are from: 3:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. (Paid OT after an 8 hour-shift when required)

We are looking for an experienced tractor trailer Driver to assist as the Yard Jockey and deliver to our customers as needed. It is required that candidates have experience driving a Yard Horse/Yard Truck/Terminal Tractor - Single Seat. This position is a Local Teamsters Union position. Paid OT after 8-hour shift when required.

Responsibilities:

• Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to our warehouse(s) and customer locations
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
• Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
• Collect and verify delivery instructions
• Report defects, accidents or violations
• Drives a Yard Horse/Yard Truck/Terminal Tractor Single-Seat Tractor
• Back trailers to Loading Docks
• Performs Safety Checks on all trailers as they are moved
• Opens and Closes Trailer Doors
• Maintains constant contact with supervisors for priorities
• Takes a daily Trailer Inventory

Attendance, Timeliness and Safe Operation are Critical

Skills:

• Valid Class A CDL
• Proven work experience as a Yard Jockey/Switcher
• Experience driving 53' Tractor Trailers
• Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
• No recent moving or driving violations
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
