About the Camp
Young Judaea Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp is a Hebrew dual-language Jewish day camp for children entering Pre-K through 5th grade . Campers come from diverse backgrounds to explore Jewish values, Hebrew, and a connection to Israel — through creativity, play, and joyful community.
No prior Hebrew experience needed!
The Role
The Makerspace Specialist will design and lead fun, hands-on STEM and art-based building projects that encourage creativity, collaboration, and discovery. You’ll help campers explore how things work through tinkering, engineering, and artistic design — while connecting projects to Jewish values, Hebrew language, and Israeli innovation.
You’ll teach daily 30–40 minute sessions for small groups (12–14 campers) and adapt lessons for various ages and skill levels.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Program Director to develop weekly lesson plans
- Create interactive, age-appropriate projects that combine creativity and problem-solving
- Connect activities to weekly camp themes (Jewish Value, Israel Spotlight, or Hebrew Spotlight)
- Adjust projects for different age groups (Pre-K through 5th grade)
- Foster curiosity, teamwork, and confidence in young makers
- Bring energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of play to camp life
Requirements
- Age: 18+
- Experience: Minimum 2 years teaching or leading STEM, art, or makerspace programs for children ages 3–10
- Comfortable planning structured projects with flexible outcomes
- Summer camp experience preferred (but not required)
- Open, adaptable, and ready to “jump in” wherever needed
- Hebrew fluency a plus, but not necessary
About the Makerspace Program
Sprout Brooklyn’s Makerspace is where art meets engineering — a space for campers to build, experiment, and create through hands-on projects that highlight innovation and imagination. Weekly activities should connect to one or more of the camp’s rotating themes (Jewish Value, Israel, Hebrew).
You’ll plan at least two activities per age group per week, plus a few backup “anytime” projects. Activities should be designed to start and finish within one 40-minute session.
Pay: $3,800.00 - $4,900.00 per year
Work Location: In person
