Job Description

Supports the commissioning of multiple projects and other design and engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry standards. Builds relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to communicate expectations and ensure reports on project updates are provided. Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) throughout systems testing to identify and report on trends and anomalies. Understands quality and safety standards and prioritizes safety throughout project lifecycle.

Onsite in Port Washington, WI preferred; otherwise, willing to travel 75%

Responsibilities

Project Management-Strategy Alignment:

  • Facilitates the commissioning of multiple projects and other design and engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry standards.

  • Leverages expertise to influence contract administration including generation and review of contracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents.

  • Aligns cross-functional teams on the budget and resources required for timely project completion.

Project Management-Relationship Management:

  • Fosters relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to communicate expectations and ensure reports are provided reports on project updates.

Project Management-Technical Documentation:

  • Guides the development of commissioning scripts and related technical documentation.

  • Influences collaborations with the general contractor to develop Systems Manuals documentation to serve as a reference for Data Center Operations personnel.

Systems Design & Specifications:

  • Provides expertise in collaborations with engineering teams to create data center designs and specifications that align to operations and reliability requirements (e.g., power capacity, cooling systems), ensuring electrical and mechanical critical systems (e.g., electrical and mechanical plant, life safety, fire suppression systems, and control systems) are incorporated.

Implementation-Testing:

  • Reviews analyses of key performance indicators (KPIs) throughout systems testing and recommends solutions to address observed trends or anomalies.

Implementation-Troubleshooting/ Issue Resolution:

  • Resolves highly complex, non-routine issues with implementing mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Drives development of resolutions to common and repeating cases of issues.

  • Aligns team to best practices to troubleshoot and mitigate issues and reduce recurrence by aligning with major stakeholders.

Implementation-Quality & Safety:

  • Prioritizes and updates quality and safety standards ensuring safety throughout project lifecycle.

  • Facilitates training programs for teams to ensure alignment on safety standards.

  • Stays up to date on industry standards and best practices.

  • Ensures external stakeholders and vendors maintain a common understanding of quality and safety guidelines to facilitate compliance.

  • Reports and addresses safety and security issues as they arise.

  • Influences cross-functional leaders and external stakeholders to gain alignment on strategic objectives. Fosters partnerships with key business leaders, stakeholders, and/or customers, identifying opportunities for expanding partnerships and promoting long-term organizational success. Champions transparency and inclusivity by actively seeking, listening to, and incorporating diverse perspectives.

  • Leads specialized, advanced problem-solving efforts, serving as an escalation point for complex issues. Guides others to leverage innovative data-driven techniques to address ambiguous or novel issues, identify root causes, and drives the implementation of solutions that prevent future issues.

  • Leverages deep industry knowledge and expertise to serve as a thought leader within the organization. Contributes to the advancement of the field or industry through thought leadership (e.g., conference presentations, white papers, research contributions). Maintains and evolves expertise in relevant areas by proactively monitoring emerging trends, technologies, and industry standards, ensuring the organization remains current with best practices. Champions continuous learning and knowledge sharing, promoting professional development across teams. Applies new knowledge to drive advancement and mentors others to do the same.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Develops innovative solutions and drives the implementation of ideas that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, protocols, and workflows across the organization. Evaluates effectiveness of updated approaches and methods for continued improvement to enhance efficiencies and ensure changes align with organizational goals. Designs and develops metrics to measure success of improvement initiatives.

Performance and Development:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert regarding talent needs and organizational talent strategy. Imparts leadership and expert knowledge throughout the talent development pipeline including candidate interviews, candidate assessment, and hiring decisions, ensuring alignment with organizational talent strategy.

Required Skills

  • 5 - 8 years of relevant experience in data center construction, commissioning, or related mission-critical environments.

  • Proven hyperscale data center experience, including construction delivery, commissioning planning, execution, and closeout.

  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and related infrastructure.

  • Hands-on commissioning experience across major data center systems; commissioning management experience preferred.

  • Ability to coordinate with construction teams, design consultants, commissioning agents, vendors, and operations stakeholders.

  • Strong knowledge of project sequencing, system turnover, integrated systems testing, issue resolution, and documentation requirements.

  • Experience supporting quality, safety, schedule, and risk management throughout construction and commissioning phases.

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $97,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
