Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Phlebotomist with a minimum of two years of recent professional phlebotomy experience. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles and possess strong communication skills. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.

• Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment.

• Update patient information accurately.

• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.

• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.

• Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.

• Follow specific procedures outlined by protocols to maintain specimen integrity.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong communication skills.

• Reliability and punctuality.

• Proficient with straight needles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bilingual skills or experience with pediatric patients is nice to have but not required.

Work Environment

The position is located at a new Patient Service Center opening in Brooklyn. You will be performing 30-50 blood draws per day in a two-person site. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with every other Saturday from 9am-4pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
