The Role:
As the Maintenance Manager, you are the key steward of the property’s physical integrity. This active role is responsible for the inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of all building facilities and systems. You will also coordinate closely with management and vendors to uphold the highest standards of functionality, safety, and aesthetic caliber, ensuring the seamless operation of our historic property.
The Responsibilities:
Preventive & Routine Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect grounds and equipment to identify and resolve potential issues
- Conduct scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on all commercial kitchen equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment or escalate issues to third-party service providers when needed.
- Maintain proper operation of refrigeration, cooking, dishwashing, and HVAC systems related to kitchen operations.
- Schedule vendor visits with Senior Management approval to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Verify completions of scheduled maintenance and sends documentation post-service (e.g., updated hood cleaning tags, extinguisher certifications).
Facility Maintenance Support:
- Assist with minor plumbing, lighting, and HVAC tasks throughout the property.
- Assist with general repairs and maintenance around the space, including but not limited to: handyman tasks, painting, powerwashing, spot cleaning.
- Contact emergency response support for equipment or facility breakdowns.
Documentation & Communication:
- Maintain up-to-date compliance logs and service records (digital and/or hard copy).
- Reviews all certificates, permits, and inspection results are properly stored and readily accessible (as provided by Management).
- Provide monthly reports on maintenance status, compliance, and upcoming requirements to leadership.
- Ensure and communicate all fire suppression systems (e.g., Ansul, hood suppression units, fire extinguishers) meet FDNY requirements and are currently certified.
- Review and confirms all fire safety systems regularly are up to date, including:
- Quarterly hood cleaning and tagging
- Fire extinguisher expiration tags
- Ansul and other fire suppression system inspection dates
- Maintain a fire compliance calendar with all upcoming inspection and renewal deadlines. Send invites to both FOH and BOH management
- Proactively alert management and vendors of upcoming expirations or missed deadlines.
- Coordinate and confirm completion of fire-related maintenance and inspections.
- Track and log fire system alerts and corrective actions taken.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training is preferred.
- Experience: Generally, 3+ years in building maintenance, repair, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of HVAC (e.g., Chillers, AHUs), electrical systems, and plumbing.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift heavy objects and perform, at times, physically demanding work.
- Tools: Proficient in using a wide variety of diagnostic, hand, and power tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands
- Must be able to work on your feet for at least 10 hours
- Fast paced movements are required to go from one part of the club to others
- Must be able to move, pull, carry or lift of up to 50 pounds on occasion and 35 pounds regularly
- Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water.
- Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required
