Volunteer Coordinator & Instructor

Job Description: Victory Hill Therapeutic Horsemanship in Greenville, NY (Orange County) is a PATH Intl Member Center that is seeking a part time Instructor (ESMHL & CTRI) & Volunteer Coordinator to join their dynamic, caring and compassionate team. This quickly growing equine assisted services program offers a variety of services for people of varying abilities and strengths. As our programs expand rapidly, there is also a potential for this role to expand to a full time position in the future.

What to expect:

• Plan and conduct Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) lessons with children and adults both mounted and unmounted.
• Assist with, or instruct beginner and therapeutic riding lessons.
• Responsible for weekly scheduling and training of all volunteers.
• Attend community events to network, share information and build key relationships with perspective volunteers, clients and donors.
• Educate clients and caretakers on additional resources available to support them.
• Follow PATH Intl safety standards at all times.
• Work to build connected relationships with all horses in our herd.
• Work 25 hrs. per week. Approx. 2pm-7:00pm Mon-Friday. Typically, one Saturday a month required May thru September only 10:30am-3:00pm.
• Competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience. Pay Range - $18-22 per hr. *Potential to become salaried employee.*

Qualifications:

• Candidate must be caring, compassionate & patient with both horses and clients.
• Minimum of two-year associate degree, bachelor’s preferred and/or experience in a similar or related field preferred.
• PATH Intl Certification as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL) and Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor or a willingness to become certified as soon as possible.
• Training through Natural Lifemanship Institute a plus.
• 2+ years’ experience working with horses or owning a horse preferred.
• Experience with children and/or adults with special needs preferred.
• Experience working or volunteering in an Equine Assisted Services program preferred.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs – WORD, Excel, Power Point, & Publisher.
• Working knowledge of social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
• Working knowledge of Google for Non-profits (Google Workspace) a plus.
• Physically fit and able to walk for several hours in a sand arena, handle horses and lift 50lbs (Not all at the same time of course!)
• MUST BE a self-starter, highly motivated to learn and tackle administrative tasks and projects independently!
• Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Independent problem solver who can take the initiative to design and implement new lessons to best meet student’s needs.
• Enthusiastic and positive personality that can serve as a leader in preserving our culture of inclusivity and kindness to all.
• Able and willing to assist with fundraising efforts, marketing, communications, and events throughout the year.
