Dental Hygienist

Key Responsibilities
As a Dental Hygienist, you’ll ensure patients receive the highest standard of care while
supporting the clinical team in maintaining a smooth and efficient practice. Your
responsibilities will include:
1. Clinical Excellence
o Perform routine dental hygiene procedures, including prophylaxis, scaling,
root planing, and fluoride treatments.
o Assist with X-rays, intraoral photos, and administering local anesthesia
(where legally licensed).
o Educate patients on periodontal health, home care, and treatment options.
o Maintain sterilization protocols, set up and break down rooms, and ensure
hygiene instruments are sharpened and ready.
2. Patient Interaction and Education
o Greet patients warmly, review and update health and dental histories, and
collect preliminary data for exams.
o Educate patients on oral health conditions and explain treatment options
(without diagnosing).
o Promote treatment plans, encourage patient referrals, and maintain positive
patient relationships.
3. Team Collaboration and Communication
o Discuss patient care and contribute to team goals.
o Support consultations by introducing patients to the doctor and facilitating
smooth handoffs.
o Assist with maintaining inventory for hygiene and oral health supplies.
4. Administrative Support
o Document procedures performed, including date, services, clinical notes, and
next steps.
o Follow OSHA standards and maintain infection control protocols.
o Cross-train in other office areas to support team efforts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
To thrive in this role, you should have:
An active state Dental Hygiene license (required).
Current CPR certification (required).
Experience in performing dental hygiene and periodontal procedures (preferred).
Proficiency in taking and developing X-rays and intraoral photos.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient education.
A commitment to professional growth and continuing education.
