Job Description
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the legal docketing and filing department.
- Ensure compliance with all court filing and service requirements, both electronic and physical.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date docketing records and schedules.
- Provide guidance and support to attorneys and staff regarding procedural and filing requirements.
- Manage and train staff within the department to ensure operational excellence.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline legal processes and improve efficiency.
- Stay updated on changes in court rules and procedures to ensure compliance in docketing and calendaring processes.
- Handle escalations and troubleshoot issues related to docketing and filing tasks.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Managing Clerk should have:
- 10+ years of experience working a Managing Attorney / Clerk's office in a law firm.
- Advanced knowledge of legal procedures and court filing systems in New York and other major US courts.
- Proficiency in legal docketing software and other relevant tools.
- Experience in managing or supervising a team with multiple direct reports.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
