Job Description

We are seeking a bilingual phlebotomist with over 2 years of recent experience in phlebotomy. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles, reliable, punctual, and possess strong communication skills in both English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate, and update patient information.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process or other specimen collection
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples at the required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience performing phlebotomy in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with specimen collection and venipuncture.
• Ability to work independently in an outpatient setting.

Work Environment

The position is based at an Outpatient facility in Queens, catering to a predominantly Spanish-speaking community. The site sees approximately 20 patients per day and is a one-person site, requiring the candidate to be comfortable working independently. The phlebotomist will be responsible for opening and closing the site, ensuring punctuality and reliability. Organizational skills are essential for ordering supplies and maintaining the smooth operation of the PSC. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8am- 5pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Queens, NY.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
