Skills and Competencies
- Over 10 years of experience in business strategy, consulting or finance with at least 5 years in a leadership role supporting executive leadership teams and driving financial strategy
- Proven expertise in shared services or multi-functional business environments, with strong collaboration and partnership skills
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen, focused on driving results through data-driven decision-making and aligning financial strategies with broader business objectives
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives, and clearly convey complex financial information
- Proven ability cultivating and guiding high-performing, collaborative teams, fostering a culture of growth and development
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
Responsibilities
We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Vice President, Finance Business Partner, to join our Finance team within the Shared Services organization. Based in New York and reporting to the Managing Director of FP&A, this role will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, driving financial strategy, providing actionable insights, and aligning financial objectives with broader business goals. The VP will lead a high-performing team leveraging advanced data analytics, business acumen, and leadership skills to inform key organizational decisions. This role will play a critical part in fostering collaboration, transparency, and effective communication between the finance function and business leaders across Moody’s Shared Services.
- Partner with the executive leadership team to define and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s strategic goals
- Provide insightful analysis, actionable recommendations, and informed decision-making support on cost optimization, resource allocation, and investment prioritization
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders across shared services functions, fostering transparent communication and collaboration
- Translate financial insights into strategic actions to drive operational efficiency
- Influence decision-making through data-driven insights and foster alignment between financial goals and business strategies
- Leverage advanced analytics tools and methodologies to analyze complex financial data, identify key trends, and provide deep insights that drive business outcomes
- Develop and implement financial models, dashboards, and metrics to support decision-making and improve financial performance
- Simplify and effectively communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team fostering a high-performance, collaborative, and growth-oriented culture
- Identify opportunities to enhance team capabilities through coaching, professional development, and succession planning

Our Finance Shared Services team supports enterprise-wide strategic decision-making through insightful financial analysis, effective business partnering, and adoption of advanced analytics to improve financial outcomes. For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $163,300.00 - $236,800.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
