Director of Technology- Applications

Goldberg Segalla LLP, a national law firm with more than 23 offices in 11 states, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as a Director of Technology-Applications in our Buffalo, NY office. The Director of Technology-Applications is responsible for leading the firm’s legal applications strategy and operations. This role will oversee the deployment, optimization, and support of critical systems, including Financial Systems, Business Intelligence and Analytics, Document Management, Case Management, Docketing, and other attorney and legal support applications. The Director will collaborate closely with the CIO and firm leadership to develop and execute a technology roadmap that aligns with business objectives, enhances attorney productivity, and supports innovation including participation in developing the firm’s AI strategy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Strategic Leadership

• Partner with the CIO and firm leadership to define and implement the firm’s application strategy.
• Participate in developing and executing the firm’s AI strategy, identifying opportunities for automation, analytics, and enhanced client service.
• Develop a roadmap for legal technology solutions that supports efficiency, compliance, and innovation.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that align with firm goals and industry best practices.

Application Management

• Oversee the administration, maintenance, and optimization of core legal applications, including:
  • Document Management Systems (DMS) – iManage experience highly desirable
  • Financial Systems – Aderant experience preferred
  • Case Management and Docketing
  • Business Intelligence and Analytics platforms
• Ensure seamless integration between systems to support workflows and reporting needs.

Operational Excellence

• Lead a team responsible for application support, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Establish governance, standards, and best practices for application deployment and usage.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for software and services.

Attorney and Staff Support

• Serve as a trusted advisor to firm leadership, attorneys and practice groups on technology solutions.
• Provide training and guidance to ensure optimal use of applications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify needs and deliver tailored solutions.

Data and Analytics

• Drive initiatives to enhance reporting and analytics capabilities for financial and operational insights.
• Ensure data integrity and security across all systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in legal technology management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of legal applications, including iManage, Aderant, and other practice management tools.
• Proven ability to develop and execute technology strategies in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Experience with system integrations, data analytics, and vendor management.
• Familiarity with AI concepts and their application in legal technology is a plus.

Benefits:

The annual salary range for this position is $120,000-$170,000. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also offers bonuses, and a full benefits package.
