Accounts Payable Specialist

As an Accounts Payable Specialist , you will be responsible but limited to maintaining the accounts payable functions of the department, ensure all payables are posted by the deadline, reconcile AP aging summary, and assist with payroll functions in two separate payroll systems.
Independent Living, Inc. is a consumer-directed, cross-disability advocacy and service organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals living in the Hudson Valley region and we seek to hire an Accounts Payable Specialist assist with fiscal related matters as required by the needs of the department while maintaining the fiscal integrity of the agency. Associates degree with concentration in accounting or 4 years of experience in accounting.

- Process accounts payable on a bi-weekly basis.
- Ensure all payables are posted by the 15th of each month.
- Clear out “Not Specified” expenses on Profit & Loss (P&L) by class statement each month.
- Scan all A/P documents into QuickBooks.
- Reconcile AP Aging Summary.
- Analyze invoices and expenses for trends and cost saving opportunities.
- Maintain Accrued Expense Schedules.
- Assist with payroll functions:
- Maintain ADP Database (Independent Home Care).
- Primary contact for ID assignments.
- Primary contact for employees W2 and paystub requests.
- Edit department procedure manual in bullet point fashion, as needed.
- Cross training with Assistant Controller.
- Assist with special projects, as needed.

SHIFT:
- Monday through Friday 9am – 5pm, with some flexibility based on the needs of the department.
PAY RATE:
- $22.00/hr - $24.00/hr
Requirements
- AS in Accounting preferred, or 4 years of experience in accounting
- Prior accounting, billing, and collections experience, preferred.
- Prior non-profit (NPO) experience, preferred.
- Knowledge of grant processes and practices a plus
- Must be well organized and detailed oriented.
- Excellent writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- General knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
- Demonstrates proficiency with MS Excel and Word applications. Experience with QuickBooks, required.

Salary Description
$22.00/hr - $24.00/hr
