Information Technology Specialist 2 (ITAMAR)

The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description As a member of the IT Asset Management and Requisitioning team, the incumbent of this position will play a key role in ensuring that the IT purchasing process runs smoothly and that technology assets are managed correctly. Examples of tasks include: • Help manage Information Technology assets for 2000 agency employees.• Assist with managing Telcom inventory; assigning & shipping assets to NYSIF users.• Assist with managing, tracking and documentation of Information Technology inventory.• Help manage the service catalog in NYSIF’s ServiceNow system.• Interface with IT managers, vendors, purchase & contracts groups, and additional New York state agencies.• Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner.• Track all software and hardware renewals and ensure that timely deadlines are met for support of such products.• Assist with software downloads and tracking.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications For appointment via NY HELPs: • A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science; OR• A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology; OR • 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology; OR• Two years of professional experience in information technology.For competitive appointment: • List appointment: Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list for this title.• Transfer: Current New York State employee with one year of permanent competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades.
