Administrative Specialist NYSUT Member Benefits (Payroll & Pension Deduction Team)
Overview:
As part of the onsite NYSUT Member Benefits Payroll/Pension Deduction Team, this position helps ensure that the NYSUT members purchasing Member Benefits programs via payroll/pension deduction have their premiums collected efficiently and accurately. The role also requires prompt and professional service to NYSUT members calling on the toll-free phone line.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Handles the day-to-day operations of the Payroll/Pension Deduction program administered by NYSUT Member Benefits including prepare and process incoming and outgoing electronic billing files, posting transactions to individual member records to reconcile and deposit school district/pension system deductions, prepare daily/weekly deposit totals and remittance files for vendors, etc.
· Liaison between Member Benefits and school district personnel, pension system personnel, and endorsed program vendor contacts.
· Analysis and interpretation of data.
· Provides member service in a high call volume environment.
· Prepares documents, organizes/maintains files and maintains databases.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Degree or certificate in related field or minimum of 3-5 years of related experience required.
· Customer service background desirable.
· Good computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office products; experience with IBMi systems helpful.
· Proven organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
· Detail oriented.
· Ability to multi-task.
· Ability to function independently and in a team environment.
