education: Bachelors responsibilities:
The main function of a Lab Technician is to perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. A typical Lab Technician may work under the supervision of a medical technologist. Job Responsibilities - Provide technical and facility support to the Cell Culture group within Early Bioprocess Development in Vaccines R&D - Prepare solutions, reagents, media, and cell culture supplies; set up and prepare bioreactors for use - Maintain inventory and place orders for bulk chemicals, cell culture materials, and laboratory supplies - Supervise and support Thermo?Fisher stockroom operations to ensure continuous supply availability - Maintain inventory tracking systems for cell culture supplies and laboratory equipment - Assist scientists with preparation of custom reagents, media formulations, and plasmids - Autoclave and prepare tubing assemblies, transfer bottles, and other sterile components - Support cell culture harvest and product recovery procedures as needed - Collect, secure, and manage biohazard waste from laboratory and pilot areas - Stock laboratory supply areas with frequently used consumables and disposables - Calibrate, operate, and maintain scientific instruments; coordinate equipment and facility maintenance with vendors and service providers - Follow written and verbal instructions accurately while supporting multiple scientific teams - Perform additional scientific and laboratory support activities as assigned qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a scientific field preferred - 0-2 years of technical laboratory experience or high school diploma with 2-5 years of relevant technical experience - Coursework in chemistry preferred (for understanding chemical formulations) - Coursework in biology or biotechnology preferred (for bioreactor and cell culture support) - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) - Ability to lift up to approximately 50 lbs skills: Biology, Cell Cultures, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
