Purpose and Scope:
The Director of Wholesale will lead and grow the North American wholesale business across department stores, specialty accounts, marketplaces, and agency partners. This role requires a strategic, relationship‑driven leader with deep experience in premium/luxury wholesale and a proven ability to scale revenue while navigating the complexities of an EU‑based brand operating in the U.S. market.
You will own the full wholesale strategy—account management, new business development, marketplace expansion, showroom agency oversight, and seasonal go‑to‑market execution—while mentoring a small but high‑impact team.
Job Responsibilities:
Major & Specialty Accounts
- Manage and grow relationships with Nordstrom, Saks, and ideally Bloomingdale’s, ensuring strong seasonal performance and long‑term partnership health.
- Expand and optimize the specialty account network, leveraging existing relationships and identifying new high‑potential boutiques.
Marketplace Growth
- Source, launch, and scale partnerships with multi‑brand ecommerce marketplaces, ensuring brand integrity, operational excellence, and profitable growth.
Showroom Agency Management
- Oversee and collaborate with external showroom partners (currently Hatch) to ensure alignment on brand positioning, seasonal priorities, and revenue targets.
Wholesale Strategy & Execution
- Build and execute a comprehensive wholesale growth strategy across channels.
- Analyze performance, forecast demand, and partner cross‑functionally with planning, merchandising, and operations.
- Identify Opportunities to improve Margin, streamline processes and strengthen the brand’s presence across all wholesale touch points
Team Leadership
- Manage and Develop the JR Account Executive, providing guidance on specialty accounts and Off-Price Liquidation strategy.
Position Requirements:
- Deep relationships with Major us Dept Stores (Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdales preferred)
- Strong network across specialty retailers nationwide.
- Demonstrated success in marketplace onboarding and growth.
- Experience managing showroom agencies and driving accountability.
- Proven ability to strategize, build, and scale wholesale channels.
- Background working for a European brand with a NYC regional office, with firsthand understanding of the operational nuances, communication challenges, and cross‑continental decision‑making dynamics.
- A proactive problem‑solver who anticipates obstacles, navigates ambiguity, and consistently finds solutions that move the business forward.
- Self-driven, results orientated, curious, highly organized with attention to detail, and strong communication skills are a must. A true self starter.
- Proven experience being a cross-functional leader within an organization, supporting a collaborative effort on driving key initiatives.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum of 7 years of Wholesale experience with major accounts (Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdales) including Long standing relationships and multiple season cycles.
- Strong Written, Verbal and negotiation skills
- Heavy Proficiency in Excel, Power point and Joor order Mgt systems
- Versatile and flexible; embraces change and adapt quickly to evolving business needs
- Ability to travel as necessary
- Agile, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
