Interim Lead Pastor

Based in Glendale, Queens; Queens Bible Church is a multi-ethnic church serving New York City for over 37 years and devoted to connecting people to God, equipping people for ministry, and sending people to make Christ known. The Interim Lead Pastor will provide steady spiritual leadership and pastoral care for our congregation during this pastoral transition. The Interim Lead Pastor will directly report to the Elder board and Council board.

Position: Full-time interim appointment. This position requires performing usual pastoral duties as outlined in our church constitution and working collaboratively with existing leadership structure.

Duration: Employment begins on the hiring date with an initial 3-month term. The position may be extended for additional 3-month periods by mutual agreement of both the church and pastor, with renewal decisions made at least 30 days before each term expires.

Key Responsibilities:

Preaching & Worship Leadership

• Preach at least 75% of Sunday worship services
• Direct and oversee worship services and prayer meetings
• Maintain continuity in worship style and theological direction

Pastoral Care

• Perform baptisms, weddings, funerals, communions, and baby dedications
• Provide spiritual counseling and pastoral visitation
• Offer crisis support and emergency pastoral care

Leadership & Administration

• Serve as spiritual and administrative leader in cooperation with Church Council
• Lead pastoral staff and coordinate ministry activities
• Maintain church operations and organizational oversight
• Prepare reports on church progress and ministry goals

Discipleship & Teaching

• Equip congregation for ministry and spiritual growth (Ephesians 4:11-13)
• Provide biblical teaching and spiritual formation opportunities
• Support existing programs while maintaining stability during transition

Requirements:

• Alignment with Southern Baptist Convention beliefs and practices
• Proven pastoral experience with interim or transitional ministry preferred
• Strong preaching, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to provide steady leadership during pastoral transition
