Mobile App Engineer
Mobile App Engineer
Location: New York (Office)
On-site | Full-time
Compensation: $185K - $300K
Our client is developing a next-generation mobile trading platform designed to redefine the future of finance. Unlike simplified retail applications, this platform offers a full-featured trading experience, including live market data, complex order types, and multi-venue execution.
The Mobile Engineer will be responsible for bringing the power of professional trading terminals to a mobile form factor. The role involves tackling sophisticated engineering challenges, such as maintaining synchronized real-time price feeds and ensuring system performance remains stable during periods of high market volatility. This position is ideal for a developer who excels in high-bandwidth, in-person collaborative environments and is passionate about building ambitious systems from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- iOS App Development: Design and implement features that remain highly responsive during market volatility and process real-time data with maximum efficiency.
- Trading Interface Design: Build gesture-driven mobile UIs that maintain the information density of professional terminals on smaller screens while preserving full functionality for power users.
- Data Visualization: Develop high-performance, interactive charting tools and real-time visualizations to assist users in making informed, data-driven trading decisions.
- Wallet & Security Integration: Implement native integrations with mobile wallets and biometric authentication, managing on-device transaction signing and secure key management.
- System Architecture: Integrate complex REST APIs and WebSocket streams while managing robust client-side cached states to ensure data integrity.
- DevOps & Quality Assurance: Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, previews, and testing to ensure seamless production rollouts and rollbacks.
Interview Process
- Initial Interview: Discussion with the Founder / CEO.
- Assessment: A take-home technical test.
- Technical Evaluation: A comprehensive technical interview and an onsite coding session.
- Final Review: A final interview with the leadership team to confirm alignment.
Requirements
- Production iOS Experience: 3+ years of experience shipping iOS applications using Swift, with a strong preference for backgrounds in fintech, trading, or real-time data environments.
- Design Sensibility: A strong eye for UI/UX with the ability to wireframe, prototype, and make informed design decisions regarding information hierarchy and gesture-driven interfaces.
- App Store Proficiency: Proven track record of shipping apps through the Apple App Store, with a deep understanding of the full release cycle from provisioning to production.
- Platform Expertise: Deep knowledge of iOS performance characteristics, memory management, and background processing.
- Real-Time Systems: Experience building applications that handle live data streams, including managing WebSocket connections, reconnection logic, and UI responsiveness.
Core Attributes
- Ownership Mindset: Comfortable taking the lead on architectural decisions and driving feature development from ideation to launch.
- In-Person Collaboration: A preference for working in a high-intensity, in-person engineering environment.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Benefits
- Competitive Compensation: Top-tier base salary plus an equity stake in the organization.
- Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with HSA options.
- Retirement: 401(k) or equivalent retirement plan with an employer match.
- Time Off: Generous paid vacation and holiday policy.
- Culture: A flat, engineering-driven environment where technical excellence and innovative ideas are prioritized.
