About the position:
As the Commercial & Executive Lead of the Sectors Americas organization, you will act as a trusted advisor to the Head of Sectors Americas. Your remit is to enable and facilitate execution of the region’s strategic vision and strengthen commercial discipline and decision-making quality. The role sits at the intersection of strategy, analytics, governance, operations and execution, ensuring that management priorities translate into timely, well‑informed decisions and measurable business outcomes.
The ideal candidate will be an independent thinker and a self-starter. This key role will be responsible for initiating and driving strategic aims aligned with the global Sectors and WB strategy, partnering on efforts and special projects with Sectors’ Digital & Transformation Lead, fostering commercial discipline, tracking key performance metrics and helping to drive the region’s continued growth and profitability. Lead will engage with stakeholders across all of the region’s business lines, gaining broad exposure and an inside view of how management, strategy, analytics and change initiatives come together to support our clients and teams.
About the department:
Sectors is responsible for ING’s client organization and resides within the Wholesale Bank. Sector teams own end‑to‑end responsibility for client strategy, coverage, credit origination, and capital allocation within their industries, combining deep sector expertise with differentiating idea generation and product execution. The Sectors-based model is designed to drive risk‑adjusted returns, disciplined balance‑sheet usage and consistent global client treatment, while working closely with product partners from Lending, Trade Services, Financial Markets and Capital Markets & Advisory. Sectors business lines consist of: Financial Institutions, Sustainable Solutions Group & Transition Accelerator, Energy (Hydrocarbons and New Energy; Renewables and Power), Real Estate Finance and Infrastructure, Commodities, Food & Agriculture, Technology, Media, Telecom & Healthcare, and Corporate Sector Coverage.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic advisor to the Head of Sectors Americas: establish priorities, proactively surface key and emergent themes, risks, opportunities and support decision-making on the region’s highest‑impact topics.
- Drive commercial discipline and performance insight across the region, including development and further build out of KPI and performance dashboards, analytics for the Sectors Management Team to inform decision making and performance/stakeholder storytelling in partnership with Finance, global teams and the Chief Commercial Office in Amsterdam
- Lead the end‑to‑end execution of key governance forums including the Americas Regional Greenlight Committee – a high‑volume, high‑touch, and time‑sensitive commercial decision-making forum – ensuring agendas, materials, minutes and outcomes are well‑structured, analytically robust and aligned with WB strategic priorities
- Lead the Executive Support function, managing the Sectors Executive Assistant team (currently 3 employees) and ensuring high‑quality, consistent delivery of administrative support to the Head of Sectors and the region’s Sector Heads across calendar management and travel & expense processes
- Assess, analyze, and execute strategic business initiatives, including leading process reviews and coordinating with the Sectors Digital & Transformation Lead on redesign efforts to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Support executive engagement and operating routines, including development of senior‑level presentations, materials and communications for management forums (e.g., town halls, offsites, client engagements), with a focus on content generation and narrative builds
Qualifications and Competencies
- Undergraduate degree; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) a plus
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in Banking and/or Consulting including front-office experience
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a front‑office, time‑sensitive environment, supporting or working directly with senior business leadership and commercial decision-makers
- Experience translating strategy, performance data, and complex topics into clear executive‑level insights, recommendations, and decision materials
- Demonstrated ability to challenge senior stakeholders constructively, influence outcomes, and operate with credibility across business lines and functions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with extensive experience preparing high‑quality executive presentations and leadership materials
- Solid project and initiative management experience, with a track record of driving follow‑through and delivery in complex, matrixed organizations
- Strong analytical capability with experience tracking, interpreting, and synthesizing commercial and performance data to support senior‑level decision‑making
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel; familiarity with analytics tools (including Copilot) expected
Salary Range $185,000-$210,000
The salary range listed reflects base salary only. This role is eligible for participation in a discretionary bonus program.
