Machine Operator (6139)

Role Overview

Operate and support manufacturing equipment to produce high-quality parts safely and efficiently while meeting production schedules and supporting overall shop performance.

 Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation

• Operate turret punch machines, press brakes, and related fabrication equipment.
• Follow production schedules and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain consistent production output and quality standards.

Machine Setup & Adjustment

• Perform basic machine setup, tooling changes, and adjustments.
• Verify setup accuracy prior to production runs.

Quality Inspection & Control

• Inspect parts during production to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Identify and report defects or inconsistencies.
• Support first-piece inspection and production quality checks.

Basic Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform routine operator-level maintenance and cleaning.
• Identify and report equipment issues early to prevent downtime.
• Support maintenance teams during troubleshooting when required.

Safety Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures and equipment operating standards.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Participate in safety training and reporting processes.

Production Team Support

• Support production flow and team objectives.
• Assist with material handling or production support tasks as needed.

Education & Experience

• Manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred
• Experience with turret punch or press brake equipment preferred
• Ability to read basic drawings or work instructions preferred
• Willingness to learn CNC and fabrication processes
• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment

Work Environment

• Manufacturing production floor environment
• Standing, machine operation, and material handling required
• Exposure to noise, machinery, and production conditions
• May require flexibility or shift support

Performance Targets

• First Pass Quality / Defect Rate: ≤ 2% defect or rework rate; ≥ 98% first pass quality
• Measurement: Quality inspection results, rework tracking, NCR data
• Production Output / Schedule Attainment: ≥ 100% of assigned production output or schedule target
• Measurement: Parts produced vs. production schedule or daily quota
• Machine Utilization / Uptime Contribution: ≥ 95% scheduled machine time utilized
• Measurement: Operator-controlled downtime, setup delays, and operational interruptions
