Construction Specialist
Construction Specialist – 12-Month Contract (St. Lawrence, NY)
Candidates must be local to Tri-State area!No C2C Inquiries! ASAP is hiring on behalf of our client for a 12-month contract Construction Specialist position located in St. Lawrence, NY. This role supports Generation, Transmission, Renewables, and Canals projects by providing strong Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) oversight for contractors across the region. The Construction Specialist ensures jobsite safety, regulatory compliance, and consistent alignment with contractor EHS requirements. Key Responsibilities:
- Review contractor HASPs to confirm hazards and mitigation plans are fully documented.
- Verify contractor training meets requirements for all tasks performed.
- Conduct frequent onsite safety reviews and provide written summaries identifying gaps or issues.
- Ensure corrective actions are developed, tracked, and implemented.
- Stop work when unsafe or potentially serious conditions exist.
- Ensure daily job briefings occur and coach contractor teams on proper PPE usage.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations (RCA).
- Support project teams with safety and environmental guidance.
- Coordinate with emergency service organizations as needed.
- Attend contractor safety committee meetings.
- Assist leadership with data gathering for internal reporting.
- Complete additional EHS tasks as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Incident investigation (RCA) training.
- Knowledge of construction hazards within power generation, utilities, substations, and ROW environments.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and work effectively in a matrixed environment.
- Experience with transmission or ROW EHS is preferred.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; without a degree, 2–5 years of EHS experience required.
- Professional safety certifications (CSP, ASP, CIH, CHST) preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certifications required.
