The Fixed Income Division (FID) is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Corporate Credit, Muni Products, and Securitized Product Group. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The Municipality Division is a market leader across a broad range of markets, with expertise in areas including Sales & Trading, Muni Capital Solutions, Muni Capital Markets, and Public Finance.

Job Description:

We are building large scale, bond electronic trading algorithms using neural nets. We already have version 1 up and running and currently working on version 2. We process about 10 gigaBytes per day, of real-time data, to find the auction price of 1000s of transactions per hour.

We are looking for an experienced Java developer. You will add new algorithms and maintain the ones that are currently running. The challenge is to design a fault tolerant, redundant system that can handle 10x of what we currently do.

The job is onsite, in central Manhattan, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Required Skills:

  • Expert level knowledge of Java, with 5+ years experience
  • Experience building Java software for a real time systems
  • Experience with modern software development life cycle
  • Attention to detail and design without being a jerk
  • Working knowledge of mathematics through calculus
  • Good sense of humor

Beneficial Skills:

  • Experience with python and kdb
  • Finance knowledge helpful but not required.
  • Knowledge of Municipal or Corporate bond market microstructure

Expected base pay rates for the role will be $200,000 to $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
