Compensation

• Estimated weekly pay: $2160 - $2210

Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (Upstate New York healthcare job)
• Assignment Length: 16-32 weeks (potential to extend)
• Start Date: October 13, 2025
• End Date: February 2, 2026
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Respiratory Care Unit
• Patient Ratios: 3.5 patients per therapist (night shift)
• Orientation: 36 hours (bi-weekly on Mondays)

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience in a hospital or acute care setting (no first-time travelers)
• Active New York RRT license or proof of application (licensing process considered in start date)
• NRP certification or experience with neonatal and pediatric respiratory care
• ACLS and PALS certifications preferred
• Recent EPIC charting experience (within past 2 years, required)
• Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment: Puritan Bennett 980, V60, Bubble CPAP, Hi Flow, LTV, OLE-Volara
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (declinations accepted with documentation)
• Reliable personal or rental vehicle required (no public transportation available)
• Willingness to work every other weekend and 2 of 3 major holidays as needed

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive respiratory care to neonates, infants, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
• Perform ABG interpretation, ventilator management, and advanced respiratory therapies (including bubble CPAP in the nursery)
• Support high-risk deliveries and provide respiratory support in nursery and emergency room settings
• Float to various hospital units as required to support clinical teams
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR system
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, rapid response)
• Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing professional development
• Adhere to hospital policies, compliance standards, and safety protocols
