IT Senior Virtualization Engineer

Description

Assured Information Security (AIS) has an opening for an IT Senior Virtualization Engineer . In this role you will lead the engineering of virtualization solutions and the administration of the internal and cloud virtualization environment, connected systems, backup strategies, and the dedicated or containerized virtual solutions of the organization. You will lead the overall implementation of VDI solutions, as well as overall engineering teams.

*This is a hybrid position with the ability to work onsite (Rome, NY) 3 days per week. 

What You'll Do:

• Lead efforts with the over operations of virtualization services including engineering and administrations of management operations, and functionality of virtual host servers, the virtual environment, storage systems, and virtual desktop environments.
• Lead efforts for proper documentation of the AIS virtualization infrastructure and environments.
• Uses relevant tools to monitor, maintain, and manage the virtual infrastructure, and is responsible in maintaining a highly available and performing environment.
• Lead efforts for escalated virtualization support issues and works with team members to resolve them.
• Manages the regular maintenance updates, security patches, and operations with virtualization infrastructure systems.
• Lead and delegate tasks to effect changes in the virtual environment that are designed to increase performance, improve operations and management, and for growth of systems and services.
• Lead engineering tasks for disaster recovery solutions, and works with team members on testing, implementation, and protocols to maintain and verify a high available environment.
• Provide excellent end user support and assists in escalated support requests for complex items.
• Works with vendor support contacts to resolve hardware/software issues.
• Performs on-call and other duties as required

Education/Experience/Skillset Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Information System, or a related discipline and 8 Years experience with multiple virtual environments and containers such as HyperV, VMWare, Horizon, VDI, Docker, Podman, XCPng OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 Years experience with Windows Systems
• 4 Years experience with Linux Systems
• 4 Years experience with vRealize Operations Manager
• 3 Years experience with Storage Area Networks, NAS platforms.
• Intermediate knowledge of Linux systems, networks, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Mac OS systems, networks, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a Security+ or CISSP, and professional virtualization certification within 1 year from date of hire.

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain/maintain Top Secret 

Travel: Less than 10%

US Salary Range: $96,281 - $117,054
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
