Adjunct Faculty

Pacific College of Health and Science is seeking a remote Adjunct Faculty to teach Anatomy & Physiology (didactic component), Microbiology (didactic component), and Pathophysiology to our Pre-licensure Undergraduate Nursing students. The successful candidate will possess a holistic, integrative vision and the communication and leadership skills to create educational experiences that support student growth, self-care, and nurturing.

The A&P, Microbiology, and/or Pathophysiology Instructor delivers high-quality,engaging, and accessible instruction to adult learners through the online LMS, Blackboard Ultra. The A&P and Microbiology courses areentirely asynchronous; the Pathophysiology course does require some synchronous attendance for proctored exams.

This role requiresexpertise in communication, a commitment to student success, and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to diverse adult studentpopulations. The instructor will foster an inclusive, interactive, and supportive learning environment, utilizing technology and innovativepedagogical approaches to maximize student engagement and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:
● Provideinstruction in science courses using approved curriculum and course outcome guides, ensuring alignment with institutional standards andlearning objectives.
● Develop, organize, and deliver course content online, incorporating various teaching and assessment techniques toaddress different learning styles and backgrounds.
● Employ instructional technologies and online learning management systems to enhancethe educational experience and facilitate student learning.
● Maintain regular communication with students, respond to emails and inquiries within 24 hours, and provide timely feedback on the growth mindset.
● Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently, maintaining accurate records and submitting grades according to college deadlines.
● As required, participate in course and program assessment, curriculum development, and departmental meetings.
● Stay current in discipline and andragogy through ongoing professional development and engagement with professional organizations.
● Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of adult learners and diverse student populations, fostering an inclusive and respectful online classroom environment.
● Adhere to all college policies, procedures, and guidelines, including confidentiality, accessibility, and academic integrity.
● Collaborate with colleagues to revise and standardize curricula and contribute to continuously improving instructional materials and practices.

Minimum Requirements:

● Master’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
● Demonstrated experience teaching sciences at the college level with adult or nontraditional students.
● Proficiency with instructional technologies and online teaching platforms.
● Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student body.

Salary Expectations, Adjunct Arts and Sciences Faculty Pay Rate:

Didactic: $1,125.00 per credit hour (all didactic courses are 3 credit hours) = $3,375.00

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/workstation situation. Able to work sitting or standing at a desk and operate a computer using keyboard and reading information on a monitor.
