MAITRE D’ / HOST

Floradora is seeking personable, polished, and hospitality-driven Maitre D’s and Hosts to join our front-of-house team.

Floradora is an upscale-casual restaurant focused on great food, cocktails, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. We are looking for team members who can create a welcoming guest experience while maintaining strong communication, organization, and service standards.

THE ROLE

The Maitre D’ / Host is responsible for creating a warm first impression, managing the flow of guests, and supporting the overall operation of the dining room.

We are looking for candidates with strong personalities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to stay organized and composed in a busy service environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcome guests warmly and professionally.
• Manage the host stand and reservation book.
• Monitor reservations, walk-ins, cancellations, and no-shows.
• Coordinate seating and maintain proper table pacing.
• Communicate closely with the MOD, servers, bartenders, and support team.
• Maintain awareness of the dining room and guest experience.
• Recognize returning guests and VIPs when appropriate.
• Handle guest questions, requests, and concerns professionally.
• Manage wait times and communicate realistic expectations.
• Answer phones and assist with reservation inquiries.
• Maintain a clean and organized host stand.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Support the team during high-volume service.

MAITRE D’ RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the Host team during service.
• Take ownership of the front door and guest flow.
• Coordinate VIPs, celebrations, and special requests.
• Communicate important guest information to management and the service team.
• Assist the MOD with maintaining service standards.
• Help coach and support Hosts during service.
• Assist with resolving guest concerns and maintaining a positive guest experience.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Previous restaurant, bar, hotel, or hospitality experience.
• Host or Maitre D’ experience preferred.
• Warm, confident, and naturally personable.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced NYC restaurant.
• Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Professional appearance and presence.
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
• Genuine passion for hospitality.

SCHEDULE

Evening, weekend, holiday, and high-volume service availability is required.
