Substitute Teacher
Summary
Provides temporary classroom coverage in the absence of regular teaching staff. This position supports the daily care, supervision, and education of children in a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment. The substitute teacher works collaboratively with center staff to maintain consistent routines and ensure compliance with licensing regulations and center policies.
Duties- Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Assist in implementing daily classroom routines and planned activities.
- Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Assist with the cleanliness of the classroom.
- Use positive behavior guidance techniques consistent with center policies.
- Assist children with meals, toileting, handwashing and other personal care needs as appropriate.
- Communicate professionally with staff, families and administration.
- Follow all center policies, state licensing regulations and health and safety procedures.
- Adapt to different age groups and classroom environments as needed.
High School diploma or equivalent required
Background check as required by NY State regulations
Pre-employment physical and Tb test
Completion of NY State required health and safety training
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel and stand for extended periods
Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors
Nice To HavesExperience working with young children preferred
Ability to respond to short-notice scheduling needs
